Creature Concept

Having a bit of fun with some creature concepting! I do this when I feel like drawing but reeaaaaally dont want to work on bigger projects, haha xD I really need to do this more often!

Anyway..this actually started as a little scribble that I thought looked a bit like something, so I just went with it. It was a fun little project!

The colors were chosen from existing creatures - the top two were from different variations of the same moth, and the bottom was from a caterpillar. :) The patterns, however, were from my own head :D

Enjoy!

Recent work

This is a WIP commission for Black-Wing24 on deviantART :)

This and the next image were some fun concepts I did for a Tampon box - one of our projects for Graphic Design 1. The idea came about thanks to my friends, haha - one said I should turn the tampon into a rocket, with the strings being the smoke, and another said I should have a pinup girl leaning against it (like in the old war posters)...so I drew her riding it, hahaha! It's too bad he wouldn't let me use this idea, I thought it was too fun NOT to do!

Dark version of the previous image :)
Another concept for the tampon box. I thought it was nice and elegant, but the professor thought it was too detailed. And yes, that flower is indeed a tampon xD
The final product - really simple, just like the professor wanted it, haha

Our final project in Graphic Design - to design a fake, funny Public Service Announcement from the 80s - kinda like those "Just Say No" ads. I had fun doing this one :D

Some thumbnails for a promo poster for Forge Comics.

The finished poster - that wood texture was a lot of fun to do, but very tedious. Pleased with the outcome :)

Figure Drawing

Got started on a portrait commission today - the girl wants me to paint her portrait in oils for a Christmas gift to her mother..and while she was over asked for me to do a few semi-nude sketches as a gift to her boyfriend, hehe. It was a lot of fun, and was great practice since our school doesn't do figure drawing. Yay more practice!! Anyway, this one turned out the best..was about a 10 minute sketch with vine charcoal. Enjoy! :D

Final Logos

Here are my final two logo designs! I especially love the face.. and it works so much better now that I’ve added eyebrows and eyelashes.

I’m happy with these designs because they are both neat looking, and they both represent me in some way. And, I am glad to have finally settled on designs, haha xD This was a somewhat stressful project.. I am glad it is over with. Now, onward, to finish off this graphic design course!

More logo brainstorming

Had a week-long extension on the project..did a bit more brainstorming. Here are the different designs I came up with. Which ones do you like?

Logo redesign

Okay, I’ve reworked the bird hands! He didn’t like the previous ones because they “look like a christmas tree” …so now they dont! He hasn’t approved this design yet, but it sounded like he liked the idea when I described it to him earlier.

What do you guys think?

Logo = more simple!

Okay. He liked the bird one…but wants me to simplify it even more. Now it doesn’t really look like a bird anymore, oh well.. I don’t really like it anymore if it doesn’t have the same meaning I had given it. I would love if you all had some suggestions on how I could simplify better.

He ended up liking one of the quick doodles I had done while I was just trying to come up with ideas.. which is a yay I guess! He wants me to go ahead and start vectoring it.. play around with the gradient/no gradient as well as trying to work with color and such. We’ll see!

Any suggestions?

Logo Design cont.

I think these are the two logos I want to use for my Graphic Design I project.. I’ve been brainstorming and sketching all weekend and these were the two best. I’m afraid he wont like the face one, though.. but I don’t have any idea what else I could use for this. That is Xeraki..my muse, my character that I use to represent myself..what else would fit more perfect for a logo for myself? I really like the bird hands though..my hands are very important to me, I need them to create.. and the bird is a sort of symbol of my artistic freedom - I’m not tied down to anything, and can be free with my artwork. So I think it fits pretty well. I’m not sure if I’m completely happy with the shading on it, though..I feel like I need some mid-tones but when I added them it made the hands look too much like hands, and the bird disappeared. Hmm..

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Logo Design

How does one go about designing a logo for themselves?

I have to create two logos that represent myself as if I were a business or something for my Graphic Design I class..by Tuesday. He wants something that fits us, but without being stupid or obvious like a paintbrush or something. All I have currently is my Watermark that I use on my artwork:

But I don’t know if that can be used as a logo…besides, he might think it too cliche’ or something, knowing my professor lol.

Time for some brainstorming!
